How to install WhatsApp on iPad, iPod without jailbreaking
WhatsApp does not require any introduction, the app speaks for itself. Today we hardly find anyone who doesn't know about this great cross platform instant messaging app. The app was started by two former Yahoo employees who together spent 20 years at Yahoo Inc.
After working such long time at Yahoo, they quit from job in 2009 and started WhatsApp after analysing the increasing demand of mobile devices and trend of sending short messages. They wanted to create something that could make text messaging free and as simple as possible.
The app started to grow since its launch and quickly it reached to the milestone of 100 million registered users and in next one or two years it set record by becoming one of the most downloaded app at every app store.
In Jan 2014, the company surpassed 450 million users with 1 million people being added everyday. The company was taken over by social media giant Facebook in February 2014 for a hefty 19 billion dollar which made every WhatsApp employee a millionaire.
This was a quick overview about this great app however the main purpose of this article is to show how can you install WhatsApp on iPAd or iPod since it is not available for these devices.
This is one of the major drawback of WhatsApp that in spite of we have huge number of iPad and iPod users, the app is not compatible with these devices. The developers should work on it and make it available for iPad and iPod as well.
However, WhatsApp is available for iPhone and will be available for upcoming versions as well. The latest iPhone will take place in September this year and it will be compatible with WhatsApp as well.
Although there is no direct way to install WhatsApp on iPad or iPod, I found out way to get it installed on these devices with a tweak. It will be a plus if you are tech savvy to easily understand installation process easily however I will try to frame this tutorial in such a way that you can install WhatsApp on iPod or iPad even though you are not a technical person. Just follow the guidelines and you will be able to do it pretty easily.
Pre-requisite for installing WhatsApp on iPad or iPod
An iPhone (borrow it from your friend in case you don't have it)
iFunbox - File manager & app installer for iPad and iPod
MAC or PC
Simple steps to get WhatsApp for iPad/ iPod
1. Start PC having iTune installed and go to iTune store.
2. Search for WhatsApp and download it.
3. Go to the folder where you have downloaded the file. The downloaded file should be WhatsApp.ipa
4. Drag this file on the desktop.
5.Go to http://www.i-funbox.com/ and download it for MAC/PC.
6. Install iFunbox and connect iPad/ iPod with PC/Mac. Open iFunbox and click Install App and then locate the WhatsApp.ipa file kept on the desktop.
7. WhatsApp will be installed on iPad/ iPod.
It was about installing WhatsApp for these devices and now we will be proceeded with registration process which requires to be done with the help of iPhone. We will register the account with iPhone and then transfer the files to iPad/iPod. Given below are the steps to be followed.
1. Bring iPhone and install WhatsApp on it. If iPhone has it installed already, you must uninstall and re-install it.
2. Activate WhatsApp with the number that you are going to use for iPad/iPod.
3. Open iFunbox and connect iPhone with PC/MAC. Go to user app and click on WhatsApp.
4. Select two folders called Documents and Library. Click Copy to PC
5. Unplug iPhone and reconnect iPad/iPod.
6. Go to user applications under WhatsApp folder, these two folders (Documents and Library) will already be there. Delete and replace them with the ones you have copied to the PC (in step 4).
